At ProBasketballNews.com, we believe people follow the game for more than just rumors. That is why we call ourselves, "The thinking fan's basketball Web site." In other words, we aim to be thought-provoking and entertaining -- while honest and fair -- in our commentary and reporting at all times.

ProBasketballNews.com was originally launched in July 2005, then re-launched in October of 2005, then re-launched again a few days before Christmas of the same year. Think of us as a minor leaguer who kept getting signed to 10-day contracts, before finally finding the right role on the right team, then going on to a productive NBA career.

This site was founded by Sam Amico, an NBA fanatic since the late 1970s and 11-year newspaper veteran. Despite his height (5-foot-9) and speed (nonexistent), Amico played basketball in college. He later published the unofficial newspaper of his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers, and spent eight years as a sportswriter -- including three as a sports editor -- at daily newspapers ranging from Wyoming to West Virginia.
