- The bilateral development cooperation program of the governments of the Republic of Indonesia and of the Federal Republic of Germany aims at increasing the number of sustainable microfinance institutions and improving the quality of financial services for operators of mainly micro-businesses and rural non-farm enterprises . Presently more than 2100 private People’s Credit Banks (BPR) and some 2000 village-based and community-owned Rural Fund and Credit Institutions (LDKP) all over the archipelago serve low-income households with savings, term deposits and credit facilities. ProFI is one part of the German support to the economic reform process in Indonesia.
