New Zealand Horse Racing Software - RaceBase

Description

RaceBase is a comprehensive database and ratings computer program for New Zealand thoroughbred racing. It was created in 1994 by Peter Harrop, a qualified systems analyst, and since then has undergone a series of upgrades, with extra components added in each time. A person who subscribes for the first time will be sent the program CD, data, and a printed manual through the post.

After installing the program, the subscriber can update his database (the race results and fields) by downloading from the subscribers page of this website. He/she can receive fields 3 or 4 days in advance, and the race results are also updated, ensuring a continuous supply of all the latest information.

The features of the program are wide ranging. There are race ratings (predictions), where the computer looks at various factors and awards points to each horse, which has so far produced an unparalleled strike rate of 26% over 10 years. Users can also alter these factors to form their own ratings methods. There are time ratings, head-to-head match-ups, jockey ratings, sire and dam ratings, race-by-race reports, race markets, NZTR ratings, win and place statistics, formlines, and users can input their own comments for each horse and/or race plus maintain a black book. There are reports and statistics on individual horses, jockeys, sires, dams and trainers including much information which is unique to the RaceBase software.
