Increasingly, weblogs are being used in place of conventional websites by elected representatives and local government officials keen to communicate more effectively and efficiently with citizens, staff, media and other tiers of government. The practice of weblogging is bringing a tone to local government that is attractive to visitors, replacing the often dry, formal and static content of traditional government websites.

Blogging is like keeping an online electronic diary with a few 'added extras'. This project is aimed at civic leaders who want to explore blogs for the benefit of their constituents.

This aim of this project is to benefit potential bloggers by providing the ‘know how’ and coaching on how to do this effectively from experienced public sector bloggers. Bloggers have the opportunity to start thier own, individual and customisable blog as well as get involved in a community of bloggers who will share ideas, experiences and the civic leadership theme.
