Bloodhound & Spanish Bulldog to Brazil; it was these breeds which were used in the development of the Fila. The Mastiff for its size &
power, Bloodhound for a keen nose & Bulldog for tenacity. It took over 400 years of evolution and devotion to breeding to produce the Fila Brasileiro breed. Fila Brasileiros are the National dog of Brazil.
dogs are used to protect livestock from Jaguars, often running the big cats down and dispatching of them before they can do any harm. Fila's are also used to hunt bear and Wild Boar. Because of their fearlessness they are also being used in jungle warfare and as K-9 dogs.
