- Towards the middle of 2006 I realised that the prospect of finding a worthwhile job in the UK as an anaesthetist was becoming increasingly unlikely. Faced with imminent unemployment I applied for work in Australia and was offered a job quite quickly. So I will be packing my bags and joining the growing number of professionals leaving the UK like rats off a sinking ship (let this be a lesson to Patsy Hewitt et al - if you don’t value your people, they will leave).
