Hello and welcome to rivercottage.net, a website about food, where it comes from, and why that matters. I‘m Hugh Fearnley–Whittingstall, and to begin with, this might look a bit like "my" website – but with your help, we have already started to change that! I have strong opinions about food, and here they are, sprinkled liberally all over the site. But when you‘ve had a good rummage, I‘d really like to know what you think. My River Cottage team and I would also love to welcome you to River Cottage HQ. If I had to sum up the purpose of River Cottage HQ, I would say that it is, in universal terms, to promote a better understanding of the nature and origins of what we eat, and in local terms, to celebrate and contribute to the vibrancy of our local food community – one that has played such a vital part in enriching my life since I came to Dorset 6 years ago.
The importance of food integrity is the key to it all, and transparency about our various activities is vital if we are to maintain our own integrity in conveying that message.
