Robert Hurt Master Goldsmith
Description
Robert has been a master goldsmith for 25 years. He holds a Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the world’s foremost gemological training center. He was awarded the Accredited Jewelry Professional degree from the GIA. He holds both a B.S. and B.A. from the University of Maryland. Robert is a member of the GIA Alumni Association and the Society of North American Goldsmiths.
Robert’s lifetime interest in making jewelry began at the University of Maryland. Upon graduation, he worked as an apprentice goldsmith in a “custom” jewelry store and sharpened his skills. Four years later he started his own small company, and continued to master his expertise in jewelry. He now specializes in designing custom jewelry for personal customers who have treasured his jewelry for years. He creates magnificent jewelry made with gold or platinum and exquisite gems. To the left, Robert is confering with the world renowned master diamond cutter, Sir Gabriel Tolkowski. Gabi is acclaimed for the creation of the Centenary Diamond, the world's largest colorless and flawless diamond valued at over $100 million dollars.
Robert comes from a distinguished line of Southwest artists. His mother, Tricia Higgins Hurt, is a nationally recognized Southwest oil painter who has had her work featured on the cover of Southwest Art magazine (Nov, 1999). Her Southwest paintings are held in private collections and museums around the world. She is currently being represented by the Hayden Hays Gallery in Colorado Springs, CO and the El Prado Gallery in Sedona, AZ.
