We welcome you to learn about Rolling Across Alabama, in the hopes you will join our mission to help those with disabilities become as independant as possible.
Through education we will teach individuals with disabilities, their family and friends new techniques of doing day-to-day tasks that would help them become more independent. Through years of experience, we have found there are many low-tech and inexpensive ways to solve day-to-day problems. Also, we have found that doctors and rehab specialist often want to give you the “pretty and expensive” solution. We realize there are many that will disagree with us but we prefer affordability and as much independence as possible, to “pretty.” That is where the members of Rolling Across Alabama will be vital to the success of the group. It will take all of us sharing our ideas and experiences in order to truly make a difference.
The general public is another direction in which we focus our efforts. As hard as it may be to believe, there are still millions that have not been exposed to someone with a disability. So, in that regard, there are still millions that are ignorant to the day-to-day physical and financial struggles someone with a disability faces. That is not to say that these people do not care or are coldhearted. It is simply to say, that in 2004, there are those who are still not aware.
