Aykroyd States His Case on UFOs
I hope that all of you got a chance to see Dan Aykroyd in his interview with Anderson Cooper on June 9. CNN gave a short, but informative segment about UFOs with Mr. Aykroyd, who is advertising his new DVD, and at the same time making a statement that you can be a well known celebrity and still talk about UFOs. I certainly hope that this attitude will carry over to some more well known people, and give the field of Ufology a little shot in the arm, which it can always use. The show itself was actually very well done, and only an occasional balancing act of skepticism by Cooper kept it from being a fully pro-UFO program, which is almost unheard of these days. After Mr. Aykroyd gave a few of the reasons why he was a believer, which he states is because of the "preponderance of anecdotal evidence from pilots, from law enforcement people, from people who have had experiences and sightings, " he also related to the audience his own UFO sighting which had corroborative witnesses. Also, a short segment was shown with Aykroyd's producer David Sereda, who made a strong case for belief with his recounting of a 1968 sighting he had. The last part of the program was a segment on alien abductions, and very well done it was.
Dan Aykroyd Unplugged is the title of Aykroyd's new DVD. On the morning after the CNN production ran, I was contacted by Sereda, who informed me of the availability of a file download of the show, which I promptly made good use of. You can download the entire program from Vidilife.com a file sharing web site. There are also web sites which have an edited version, which has all of the commercials lifted from it. The abduction part of the show, to me, was very interesting. It focused primarily on Clayton and Donna Lee of Houston, Texas. The couple was the target of the abduction theme because they represent ordinary, hard working people who function in society, and claim not one, but multiple abductions. Shown were several regressive hypnosis clips of the couple, who were in the pangs of terror as they endured their abductions. Only a few times was the phrase, "sleep paralysis" used as an alternative explanation for what alleged abductees claim is true alien abduction. Aykroyd handled most of the show's negative statements with comedic relief, especially his reference to being "probed." If you can get your hands on a copy of the video file, watch it, I think you will be impressed. I was.
