Description
When I took up the 4-wheeling hobby years ago, it was frustrating. It was hard to find good quality parts - and harder still to find knowledgeable salespeople or installers. The area needed a quality automotive parts and accessories store. So in August 1977 RV 4 Wheel Drive Center opened in a little building of less than 1,000 square feet. It was successful from the start - people appreciated being able to find quality parts and have them expertly installed.
In less than a year the business outgrew that location and moved to the present location at 712 West Main Street in Mechanicsburg. Two employees were added that year. Automotive sports continued to grow and the business has grown with them. In 1984 an addition was added to double the size of the retail showroom, warehouse and work area. The installation area tripled in size. Many new customers were coming in. But perhaps more importantly, our old customers kept coming back. Why? Because one thing has remained a constant: We do the job right the first time. We sell the customer the right part or accessory and stand behind it.
The most recent expansion occurred in 1994, which again doubled the size of the showroom and tripled the size of the installation shop. I still work in the office looking for the best parts and the best prices. It's a big job keeping current as automotive technology advances and more people are taking better care of their increasingly expensive vehicles.
