Description
The Simcoe & District Humane Society, chartered in January, 1953, has worked hard at aiding animals in distress since the 1950's, The Foster Care Program is an integral part of the Society, as it does not have a shelter as of yet, but 2004 was a great stepping-stone in this endeavour. As the number of stray, sick and injured animals has grown, so has the community support and the Society now has a goal to build a shelter in the next couple of years.
In 2004 the Society assisted over 160 adult cats, 309 kittens and over 130 dogs to date with approximately 380 of these animals adopted into great homes.
2005 has been an exceptionally busy year. As of December 31, 2005 we have assisted over 580 animals. Over 60% have had medical complications that have required major Veterinary Care. As of January 1, 2006-82 of these animals are still in care, 61 still requiring treatment of some type.
