The Northern California Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America was established back in 1984 as the Greater Sacramento Chapter of the American Lupus Foundation. Today the Northern California Chapter is affiliated with the national Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. Our mission is to educate and support those affected by lupus and find a cure.
It is under that directive by which we now operate. There are three areas of support and service we provide. The first is public awareness and education. In the fiscal year 2001 the Lupus Foundation of America, Northern California Chapter attended over 30 health fairs and provided tens of thousands of documents to help spread awareness. We responded to over 6500 inquires for information.
Our second goal is to support those affected by lupus. A network of support groups held thought our service area realizes this goal. We also provide referral services to those who need outside assistance for every thing from grief counseling to medical supplies to services that deliver food and those who help fund medicines for needy patients.
