The Kanu Nwankwo Heart Foundation is a charity established by the Nigerian Professional Footballer Kanu Nwankwo. He has been the African Footballer of the Year twice, and is a star player with the English Premiership giants Arsenal F.C.
The Nigerian soccer prodigy who captained Nigeria to the Atlanta Olympic Soccer Gold Medal in 1996, became the focus of attention when, after a celebrated transfer from Ajax of Amsterdam Inter Milan F.C. Italy, he was diagnosed to be suffering from a weak aorta valve in his heart.
Kanu Nwankwo braved all odds and with God on his side successfully underwent life threatening heart surgery to correct the weak aorta valve at Cleveland Hospital USA. Since overcoming the heart ailment Kanu has shot to the pinnacle of the World of soccer.
