Safe Air is an aviation maintenance and manufacturing organisation specialising in the overhaul and repair of military and regional sized aircraft, and their components. Safe Air, under contract, operates the Royal New Zealand Air Force depot level maintenance facility, No 1 Repair Depot.
The Company's facility, comprising 4 hangars, a purpose-built propeller workshop, and extensive backshops and specialist bays, is located at Blenheim's Woodbourne airfield in the midst of the Marlborough Wine District.
Safe Air was formed as a cargo airline in 1950 and diversified into aviation maintenance. The company ceased flying in 1990, but has continued to expand and now employs approximately 350 staff.
