Canada's Critical Infrastructures are those physical and information technology facilities, networks and assets whose disruption or destruction would have a serious impact on the health, safety, security or economic well-being of Canadians or on the effective functioning of governments in Canada. As part of its critical infrastructure protection responsibilities, the Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection and Emergency Preparedness manages the Government's response to significant cyber-based incidents and threats to information systems, networks and infrastructures relied upon by the Government, as well as to other elements of the national critical infrastructure. / Les infrastructures essentielles du Canada sont les installations physiques et celles des technologies de l'information, les réseaux et les biens dont la destruction ou l'interruption de service aurait un impact sérieux sur la santé, la sécurité ou le bien-être économique des Canadiens et Canadiennes, ou sur le bon fonctionnement des gouvernements au Canada. L'une des responsabilités du Bureau de la protection des infrastructures essentielles et de la protection civile est de gérer l'intervention gouvernementale face aux incidents cybernétiques graves et aux menaces contre les systèmes, réseaux ou infrastructures de l'information dont dépend le gouvernement, ainsi que face aux autres éléments pouvant affecter les infrastructures essentielles nationales.
