While working for the Space Shuttle Program at General Dynamics in San Diego, Bill began studying locksmithing in 1988 as something to do while parts cooked in the autoclaves. Shortly afterwards "G.D." went belly up, if temporarily, thus ending a long and lucrative, if politically unstable, career in the Space Shuttle program. When G.D. in San Diego closed its doors, and Bill and his co-workers all filed out of the compound one last time, he looked around at the city he grew up in, and decided; "Rather than tuck my tail between my legs, and give in to long lines of unemployment, and bitter coffee cabals and complaint sessions with fellow laid off Space Program employees, I'd look at this as an opportunity rather than an ending. I packed up my family and moved to Fort Worth, Texas."
