You may be considering coming to San Miguel de Allende for the first time or perhaps you have been here several times and would like to return. I want to welcome you to our service. Our objective is to give you an unbiased service that you can consult that feels as personal as having family here. I work with two charitable organizations in San Miguel whose aim is to preserve and keep alive the ancient customs and the arts as well as to host representatives from other countries and visitors to San Miguel. I ideally want you, the traveller, to get to see and feel some of the real San Miguel that can be so hidden. This destination is now the number one in Latin America and you can be bombarded with marketing and advertising…your time may be very short here and you need to spend that time living your experience here, not just looking for it and wishing you had found those delightful places earlier.
I am Canadian born, of immigrants from the Baltic States, and settled here in San Miguel with home and children in local international schools. I am trilingual, English, Spanish and German, have my degrees in literature and business from Canadian Universities and have travelled and worked in several countries, finally leaving my advertising career with Ogilvy and Mather in Toronto in 1988 in order to start my design and import/export business shipping from Mexico to Canada. I have always used San Miguel as my home base when travelling here. As my life circumstances have changed with little children in school, I have decided to phase out of the travel and stress of big business and concentrate on my children and showing visitors to San Miguel its magical hidden delights.
There are so many special moments that you cannot program here. Like a Friday at dusk I was driving down a main street and wondering where the beautiful opera music of Puccini was coming from…finally realizing that it was coming from a pick-up truck driving in traffic in front of me. In the back of the truck sat a man holding a baby in his arms and supporting the statue of a virgin covered in flowers…I breathed deeply and remembered how lucky I am to live in a little pueblo where so much is kept alive…
