- Irving Sarafan and his parents Jacob (Jake) and Beatrice Sarafan founded what was to become Sarafan Auto Supply Inc. The roots of the business stem from the return home of Irving Sarafan from WWII with an enthusiasm for Military Jeeps, Motorcycles and Trucks. He assured his parents that there was a need for a source of Military Surplus Material in the New York and New England region. The Company was founded in 1949 on Irving Sarafan’s enthusiasm for the MB JEEP. This enthusiasm has never waned. Even though Irving has since retired, his interests have been passed down to the third generation. Michael Sarafan continued on with the family owned business which had been located at its original site for over 50 years. The business has since expanded to include its sister company, Sarafan Truck & Equipment Inc.
