- About Gavin
- He’s been affectionately nicknamed “Romeo” by his family and closest friends because he refuses to drink milk from a bottle. He refuses his bottle because there’s always medicine in it, medicine that tastes horrible!!! (the “horrible” can be vouched for by any of his many ICU nurses and physicians at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital). He’ll even pretend he’s asleep so he doesn’t have to take the bottle. However, Gavin needs these many “horrible” medications, in addition to weekly injections, to keep him alive. You see, Gavin was born with end stage renal failure, meaning he has no viable kidney function.
