Save the Date Originals (STDO for short) is a small business that offers custom and personalized designs for printing on magnets, cards, stickers, and more. STDO has been in business since 2004, and as of 2011 is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Save the Date Originals specializes in save the date magnets for weddings. Couples can get a save the date magnet with any design: photographic, themed, simple, elegant, colorful, and more. There are over 20 available magnet sizes. Cards can be made in different shapes and of different card stock.
Save the dates have been growing in popularity for a good decade (as of 2011). These are notices sent out prior to the actual invitation that are themselves a promise of an invitation. These are sent out farther in advance for events on days where people will need prior notice if they are going to make arrangements. "Invitation to follow" is frequently printed near the bottom of a save the date.
Naturally, STDO grew into offering wedding invitations and thank you cards as well, along with cards and magnets for other events (such as birth announcements).
STDO operates nationally and customer service is done via email. Design proofs are emailed prior to an order being placed; Customers can request edits, and then can place their order when they are happy with the design.
Local customers can actually schedule a meeting in the STDO office to look over some magnet samples.
