Description
The prologue of the Project118.Com took place in 1999. Back then, it employed another name with different concept to introduce this collecting hobby to the public. Today, the idea for this site is simple. Instead of lengthy reviews of one person's opinion, Project118.Com contains thousands of photos of hundreds of new and old scale models. The goal is to let visitors to form their own opinions based on the photos. Project118.Com also feature community forums to let collectors/non-collectors to ask question, express their opinions, share their knowledge, and so forth. Many thanks to the support of all members, the forums are definitely the best this site has to offer. Going forward, more updates will continue expand the site. Hopefully, this site will continue to evolve to better serve it's purpose.
So, who is in the backstage? Well... ME! Who us "ME"? Well, I am a average guy with average look, living in an average house (in which we paid way too much for) located in an average town. My biggest wish is to have/maintain an average life. I am married with no kid. No, I don't have a Ferrari or Lamborghini in my garage (Heck, I did not even have a garage until very recently). I do own/drive
an import sub-compact for practical reasons. It's also the only car we have in our entire household (Good public transportation. Thank you to NY MTA and NJ Transit!). Practicality is probably the main driving force in my life. Isn't it kind of ironic that I love model cars that don't run? I am not cheap by any mean. I always leave more than 15% worth of tip for the waiter or waitress. I also don't mind spend a little more for better service/product. At the same time, I am not stupid either. I don't like people who rip me off. I also don't like people who over promise with zero action. What else is there to know about me? Well, I am not into any sports (perhaps that's because I am never good at any of them). I hate politics. I don't lean toward either the left or the right. I do believe people should use their "common sense" and "be considerate" more than listen to other's propaganda (regardless of which pedestal this "other" person is on). My favorite place to live is San Francisco. My favorite vacation is at home, in front of my cable TV. My favorite dish is anything that has do to with a big, fat juice steak (Although my doctor won't be too happy to hear that!). My favorite drink is Mountain Dew. My favorite car is..... ummm...... I don't know. My favorite car brand is probably Lamborghini. So, what got me into this hobby? Well, I love cars. I love the technical and the form/shape aspects of them. I always thought a car is an art form. Since an average person like me can't really own anything classified as an "exotic" (or in my case, I can't even touch anything classified beyond "average"), my only hope is either the posters, pictures, or scale models. While posters and pictures can efficiently express my passion towards cars, scale model can do that and more. Each scale model, regardless if it costs 20 or 200 dollars, requires great deal of engineering effort as well as superb craftsmanship. Much like admiring the Golden Gate Bridge beyond it's beauty, the engineering and craftsmanship level of a scale model can be jaw dropping as well.
