The Scot Roots professional genealogy team is led by Dr Brian Thomson, an experienced genealogist with over 20 years of researching Scottish local history. As well as a wide knowledge of Scotland, Dr Thomson has travelled in the Pacific, New Zealand, Australia, Alaska, Africa and throughout Europe. His own ancestry is predominantly Scot, especially from Shetland and Orkney islands, with a peppering of Canadian, German, English and Irish genes. Member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the Scottish Genealogy Society, and the Scottish Local History Forum. Scot Roots were commissioned for historical research TV Channel 4's "Revealing Secrets", and also feature on Tartan TV to promote Scottish genealogy to an overseas market.
