Dedicated to A Beautiful World
When my father, Horace, founded Miracle-Gro in 1951, he couldn't have envisioned how the consumer lawn and garden industry would grow into a leading outdoor leisure activity and a nearly $7 billion global business. That's probably even more true for O.M. Scott, who started The Scotts Company in 1868. Neither could they have imagined the future success of this company. Today, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company is the world's leading lawn and garden company with trusted brands in every category in which we compete. Edmond Graminski's Comments on ScottsLawn.com

  • Edmond Graminski (frustrated) : Last spring my 25 year old PF-1 fertilizer spreader failed when I was about 3/4 finished fertilizing my lawn. I purchased a Scott's Accugreen 3000 spreader and finished fertilizing. I noticed that the new spreader was dropping less fertilizer than the old PF-1.While fertilizing my lawn this Fall with the Accugreen, I was convinced the spreader was dropping too little fertilizer and decided to inspect the spreader. I removed the fertilizer from the hopper and found the holes were clogged with various amounts of fertilizer. The humidity that day was low and I quickly recognized that static electricity was causing the clogging. Plastics are notorious for building up of static charge when powders run over the plastic surface and because of this property cannot be used in certain applications. The PF-1 spreader, constructed with metal, quickly dissipates static charge and therefore doesn't create the problem that occurs with the Accugreen spreader.Since all Scott spreaders are constructed of plastic, they are now as inaccurate in applying fertilizer as the metal spreaders were reliable. In other word, Scott's, no longer can be considered reliable. As a consequence I will be applying for a refund of the Accugreen spreader and I will search for a metal fertilizer spreader. Please consider manufacturing once again the old PF-1 spreaders. Twenty five years of reliable service speaks for itself. Apparently, Scott's, did not do an extensive reliability test on the Accugreen spreader before deciding to market the new design. The recent comments I read indicate a lot of people are having the same problem with the Accugreen spreader that I encountered. 09:40, 3 October 2008 (PDT)
