Seaboard Security in June 1988 when they bought the assets of East Coast Security in Bangor, Maine. In 1990, the company acquired the assets of S&R Security and became incorporated with Gerry as President and sole stockholder.
Scott Baxter joined the company in 1991 as General Manager and was appointed President in 1994. Scott graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1975 and elected, upon graduation, to be commissioned as an Infantry Officer with the US Army. Following a tour with the 82nd Airborne Division in North Carolina and the 3rd Armored Division in Germany, the Army sent Scott back to North Carolina to obtain his Master’s Degree, complete the Army’s Foreign Area Officer training program and become fluent in French. Following completion of the training, he was assigned to the 8th Psychological Operations Battalion which covers the Middle East and Africa. Six months of his tour with 8th Psyop were spent as the Security and Operations Officer for the US Office of Military Cooperation in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Scott left active duty in 1987 and returned to New England with his family, first on the Seacoast of New Hampshire, working as a technical recruiter, and then in Down East Maine, as a manager at the Down East Correctional Facility, before moving to the Bangor area to manage Seaboard Security. During the entire time, he maintained his affiliation with the military through the US Army Reserves, moving progressively higher in rank and responsibility, completing the Army’s Command and General Staff College and the Army’s Physical Security Course. Following completion of his assignment as a commander of an Army Reserve training battalion, Scott retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1996.
