Description
Sheffield Environmental & Horticultural Training is an organisation based at Heeley City Farm, offering high quality training in an informal setting. We offer nationally recognised qualifications, delivered by professional and highly skilled staff, in a friendly, inclusive environment. We are funded by the Learning and Skills Council.
Our courses are tailored to fit individual needs, and include personal development and life skills (key skills), alongside nationally recognised vocational qualifications. All our qualifications are unitised to allow for flexibility in learning, and are assessed is by continuous observation and the production of a portfolio, for which help can be provided if needed. Sheffield Environmental & Horticultural Training is the only training centre in and around Sheffield that delivers NVQ level 1 to 3 in Environmental Conservation through further education.
Regular support is provided throughout the programmes by means of a comprehensive induction and ongoing individual guidance sessions, including advice on opportunities following attendance on the course. We offer support and help with literacy and numeracy, taught alongside other courses or as stand-alone qualifications. We give full health and safety training for practical based courses. There is also the opportunity to gain a first aid certificate. Learners have access to a well-maintained tool store and workshop with some IT facilities.
