Title
Kurt Seifried’s Information Security
Description
The US Gov (DOJ/DHS) has released an excellent paper on the creation of “Fusion Centers”; essentially organizations that blend law enforcement and private/public organizations to share information. Taken as such it is a valuable document. However it is also more general than that and can also be used as a template or guide for virtually any information security initiative, it’s pretty comprehensive (including topics such as physical security, training, etc.).
8 years ago today (April 1st, a.k.a. April Fool’s day) I registered the domain seifried.org. Unfortunately I didn’t register seifried.com and a domain squatter has been sitting on it ever since (but I did grab seifried.net and seifried.ca, so 3 out of 4 isn’t bad). Since then I’ve seen a lot change, in information security, the Internet, the laws, the world and so on. Heck, seifried.org used to be hosted off of a dedicated 14.4 modem line (which was actually pretty darn decent back then for a private site!).
Red Hat has some more information regarding their vulnerabilities, exposure time, etc. From ALan Cox’s weblog (he’s a bigtime security Linux guy):
