Self-Organize

Preparing for the desired task and improving skills desired to complete a task are the foundations of self organization. When we organize ourselves, we take stock of the resources that are available to us. The resources could come in the form of time, energy or people. By thinking about these resources and how they can be used to complete the tasks we have set ourselves, we are on the road to self-organization.

We are sometimes forced to take stock when there is a crisis in our lives. This is when our lives have become unraveled or disorganized in some way. We then have to think of ways to return to our more organized state. But we don't need to wait for a crisis to self-organize, we can do it now.

Importance

Self-Organization is of vital importance in a UserDriven environment:

  • It encourages users to to take an active part in managing their roles.
  • It allows people the flexibility to have a personalized approach to their own work.
  • It gives people the authority to make their own decisions on what they want to do and how they want to do it.
  • It empowers people and makes them more likely to produce outstanding work.
  • It promotes respect for others differences.
  • It creates a learning environment where people can learn from different approaches to work and apply what works for them.

How do I do it?

  • When we imply constructive and conspicuous efforts to correct mistakes just to make the resource better ,we are actually self-organizing,it does not mean that the person who made the mistake like putting un-necessary materials which are not related to an article [spam] is wrong always but it is our responsibility also to amend it.
  • Contributing constructive_edits and correcting where that make vandalism or spam
  • Self_management i.e self_evaluating my project-tasks are a part of self-organization..
  • Create awareness in people to use their 'real' name to spread transparency.
  • If we come across a page which does not contain any information we can always add information.

Once we determine to sort things according to these rules we can collaborate in building the commons.
