Ragdoll Kittens Cattery in Maine, Breeder of traditional Blues.

We are a retired Army family that lives in a small town called Owls Head in the mid-coast area of Maine. Both my husband and I were born and raised in the area. My husband now works for the Sheriffs Department and I now stay at home to care for my father and also our 7-year-old daughter. Although I hope to go back to the veterinary hospital I previously worked at. We also have two older daughters and one son, along with three grandchildren. We also have a Golden Retriever, a Llama, a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats, and an Eclectus Parrott. So, when we say our kittens are raised in a family setting, we mean it. They are exposed to anything and everything that the older cats are, that is after they are old enough, until then they have a room to themselves although they are able to see out though the fencing and this also allows them to become accustomed to the noise and bustle of the house before they are out in the middle of it.

I first became aware of Ragdolls while I was working at the Veterinary Hospital, Daisey, the first Ragdoll I ever met, has crossed over the “Rainbow Bridge now, Marilyn and Jim have adopted Gable, my original stud cat and they have a very happy relationship. I have always liked pointed cats and I loved the calm and laidback attitude of the Ragdoll. We have had Siamese and Balinese cats before and when one of my daughters wanted a cat for her birthday I started looking for a Ragdoll. We found Kayla in New Hampshire at Rosebud Rags and it was love at first sight. From there I acquired Gable from Julie at Victorian Rags and then Tara from Scottie at Rags2riches. They are both retired now and we have acquired a few more. We are a small cattery and my older children help with keeping some of the cats, also.

I have a very strict policy on my cats not being allowed outside and also on declawing; after working at a vet hospital and seeing cats that had been done elsewhere and seeing the mangled feet and the pain that it causes, usually for the life of the cat. It doesn’t matter what the breed, no cat should have to be subjected to that.
