"MJM Industries, formerly Matt’s Specialties, was started by Mr. Marlin Mattson 10 years ago in Newfolden, MN with the Sewer Blanket concept. Having worked with his father and uncle for many years with Mattson Backhoe, which began in 1954, Marlin recognized the need for a consumer friendly product to help prevent freeze up of septic systems. Mr. Mattson had spent five years developing and testing “Matt’s Sewer Blanket” when Doug Haven joined the company. During the past five years they worked together developing the production and marketing of the product. Now approximately 2000 blankets are in use by consumers from Winnipeg, MB to Mankato, MN. The integrated materials that make up the product are being trademarked as “Matt pak”. Additional applications and products are presently being developed each using Matt pak. MJM Industries continues to develop all areas of the products including: Concept, Design, Testing, Production & Marketing. MJM Industries most recognized product is The Original Sewer Blanket that's designed to be placed over-top of the ground where drain pipes, septic tanks, and drain fields are located in order to prevent freeze-up of the septic systems in cold winter climates.
MJM Industries also makes the Wrap-N-Strap and The Guardian. The Wrap-N-Strap can be wrapped around pipes to prevent freeze-up in the winter. While the Guardian, which is similar in appearance to a sleeping bag, is used to keep a person warm in emergency situations by providing shelter against cold, wind, and precipitation.
