SHiNE ~ Canadian Rock Band ~ [ HOME ]
edit Description
In the Beginning...
Guitarist Jeff Fairbank, bassist Neil Bell and drummer Matt Pavan formed Shine in 1998 in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. They had all the instrument talent they needed; now all they required was a vocalist to complete their sound.
They interviewed and auditioned more than 200 applicants before they met up with Marnie Anderson. Her strong jazz and blues influence gave the band the unique sound they were looking for, and so Shine was born.
Gently Insane
Shine performed with Marnie on the front line for 6 years. They recorded their debut album at Hot Sole Music Inc. with Kevin Williams producing. "Gently Insane" was released in 2001, and their CD release party was held at the Starfish Room in April of that year. Despite the heavy rainfall that night and the public transit strike, Shine still managed to sell out the show. The band has been the opening act for a few big names including Kim Mitchell, Dr. Hook, Nazareth, and Honeymoon Suite at various venues including the Commodore Ballroom. In the summer of 2003 they were invited to play at the "Harley Davidson" The Ride Home Party in Missoula, Montana where they performed for a crowd of 4,000 plus!
