Religious School edit
We seek to instill in the children of Shir Ami an appreciation of their place in the historic, present and future contexts of the Jewish people; pride in their Jewish identity; and the value of participating in the greater Jewish community. We provide a warm, nurturing environment where our children can enjoy themselves, develop positive associations with Jewish learning, and build a network of Jewish friends. Religious School is offered to members of Shir Ami.
Our Religious School Education Director is Cantor Marie Betcher. She leads an award winning staff of teachers. The Cantor has developed an excellent curriculum that uses texts, songs, crafts and activities to teach various Hebrew and Jewish concepts. Activities include Torah Service and Gan Yeladim Choir held every Monday during Religious School.
High Holy Days edit
Congregation Shir Ami proudly announces that Cantor Marie Betcher will be expanding her role with Shir Ami to include leading our High Holy Day services in Fall 2008! Cantor Betcher is currently Shir Ami’s Education Director and has officiated at both youth and adult B’nai Mitzvot ceremonies for Shir Ami over the past three years. Cantor Betcher received her certification and investiture as Cantor from Hebrew Union College and has previously led High Holy Day services at congregations across the country. We are very pleased that we will be able to have her with us in town this coming year to lead our High Holy Day services!
