- Dr. John Whitney Morin earned his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Miami. He is a a licensed psychologist and a member of the American Psychology Association. Dr. Morin has worked in a number of roles in the field of psychology, including teacher, therapist, lecturer, writer, and expert witness in court. Before he was able to effectively teach, or lecture, or testify in court, he had to overcome his own social anxiety. He began that process in the early 1990s, first researching the literature on social anxiety, then applying what he was learning in his daily life. Because he understood social anxiety as only someone who suffers from it could, he was able to take the scientific research and make it work in real life. By the mid-1990s he had begun to develop the program that is now The Shyness Clinic social anxiety program.
