Oh (not) so long ago... Originally, SimmingWorld’s concept was present on TheSimsWorld.com, which launched in mid-2002. TSW was probably about the smallest Simsite on the internet at the time, with not much more than some forums focusing mostly on The Sims Online. In January of 2003, TSW’s administrators decided to close it down because it was heading nowhere but down. With a renewed spirit, however, stony (its Content Administrator), decided that he would open a completely new site by mid-year, complete with a compelling discussion area, more information than needed, a fully functional news program, a staff (consisting of TSW’s favorite members), and oh so much more. SimmingWorld.com launched on July 7th, 2003 (okay, a little late) after over 5 months of toiling with its development.
Since then... SW has grown into a virtual textbook of up-to-the-minute sim news, information, screenshots and videos, the largest assembly of The Sims 2 knowledge on the web currently in development, downloads, a thriving community of members and supporters, and soon the return of the first-of-its-kind SW Hosting. The key aspect of SimmingWorld (of many unique ones) is that it has absolutely no outside licensors or contractors, no income, no payrolls, no legal relations, and no paid sponsorships. The entirety of SimmingWorld consists of community support and proprietor financial support. Nothing more.
Everyday, SimmingWorld.com strives to go above and beyond your usual fansite’s call by bringing you up-to-the-minute, blow-by-blow, nearly-professional news coverage and commentary from the world of Sim, the most screenshots and clips of anywhere, a healthy dose of colorful discussions, places for simmers the world over to share their tales and conceptions, and loads more. In return, we ask nothing but everyone’s participation, knowledge and hopefully, enjoyment. SW’s people work hard to stay on top of things not for profit, profile, reputation, or out of competition, but simply because we – like you – find Maxis games to be incredibly fun, conducive to unbridled creativity, hysterical, and unlike any entertainment on Earth.
