Description
Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO) , under the Ministry of SSI & ARI is the Apex body at the National Level. It is headed by Development Commissioner, Small Scale Industries to formulate the policy governing the Small Scale Industrial Sector in the country, to chalk out schemes and programmes for development of the SSI Sector. SIDO also monitors the implementation of policies and activities of promotion and development of Small Scale Industries in the Country through its network of 28 Small Industries Service Institute (SISI) in all the States, with active involvement of State Directorate of Industries.
The Small Industries Service Institute (SISI), Mumbai was established in the year 1954 . In the year 1960 , it shifted to its own premises at Sakinaka , Mumbai. The
was inaugurated on 17.04.1960 by Hon'ble Shri S.K.Wankhede , Minister of Industry, Govt . of Maharashtra. The Office was headed by its first Director Shri R.V.Patel . The Institute is presently headed by Shri N. Naik , Director. The other Directors who were heading this Institute are :
