About SkinnyChef
Here I am with my business partner, Web Master, and husband, - in short my biggest fan - Dr. Ulrich Iserloh. Why is he looking so smug you ask? Well, who else has a private chef to cook their dinners for free (that is when I'm not working late hours!) We started the website for SkinnyChef ® Culinary Services as a way to contact potential clients and stay in touch with friends, family and my former co-workers when I embarked on my career change. Instead of just a message board or photo gallery, it has opened the floodgates of creativity, allowing us to explore areas such as writing, photographic and design. So a word of thanks to my husband Uli for helping me create a playground for my inner imaginative child can do what she loves best, culinary exploration!
Why a Career in the Culinary Arts?
I have always been intrigued by food, but in college I studied languages. I loved French Literature and Poetry so much that I decided to persue a Master's degree. During my days in graduate school, I spent most of my time reading. As soon as the weekend rolled around, I would take off my glasses and I would spend long hours in the kitchen creating lavish menus, sometimes hosting dinner for sixty or more hungry guests. One night as the music, laughter and ruckus of dancing feet poured out of the windows of my small apartment, and dancing, the police arrived at my door. After coaxing them with a little lasagna they agreed to let my guests stay another hour.
After I graduated with my Masters in French Literature, I worked in Lugano, Switzerland for a telecom company training their staff of international operators. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to use my French and learned a little Italian in the process. See my travel section to check out some of the recipes I picked up there!
