- My name is Joel. I am a Band Director in Texas and have successfully completed my fifth year of teaching. My first two years of teaching were, for lack of a better term, a horrible failure. I knew lots of information, but did not have what it took to push me beyond that. I was a reservoir of knowledge, but my students didn’t like me, didn’t care what I knew, and usually liked to argue with me until they get their way. That’s when everything changed.
