About Us
Speech Advantage is dedicated to helping individuals improve their communication skills both in the workplace as well as in their personal lives. People communicate hundreds of times in hundreds of ways throughout each day. We strive to make your communication the most effective and efficient that it can be. All of Speech Advantage’s facilitators are certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association as well as licensed in each state in which they provide services.
Speech Advantage's director is Barbara Christensen, MA, CCC-SLP. Ms. Christensen is a certified speech/language pathologist and licensed in several states. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communication from Iowa State University as well as a Master of Arts degree in Speech Pathology from Northeast Missouri State University (currently known as Truman State). Working as a speech/language pathologist since 1987, she has assisted hundreds of individuals with varied backgrounds to enhance their communication skills.
Certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) from which she holds the Certificate of Clinical Competency, Ms. Christensen brings a unique perspective to the training room. Her enthusiasm and dedication to her clients radiates perfection. "It is a thrill to see my clients progress and become more self confident with their speech!" states Ms. Christensen. She is also certified by the Institute of Language to provide foreign accent reduction training utilizing the Compton P-ESL program. Other organizations in which she is involved include the Wisconsin Speech Language Hearing Association, Iowa Speech Language Hearing Association, American Society of Training and Development and Business & Professional Women. She is actively involved in the Corporate Speech Pathology Network (CORSPAN) and is licensed as a certified speech/language pathologist in several states.
