- SST Sierra Insurance Brokers located in Murphys, California was originally founded by Michael Schwartz & John Sylvester on October 1, 1979 in Palo Alto, California. Mike & John had been in business with a former firm named Ruddco Insurance, Inc for six years in Palo Alto. They left Ruddco to form Sylvester & Schwartz Insurance with office in Palo Alto, California. They out grew their office space in Palo Alto and moved to Los Altos, California in 1982. Bill Tugaw joined the firm as the Life and Employee Benefits specialist at that point. In 1982 Bill became a partner and the firm name changed to Sylvester, Schwartz & Tugaw Insurance Brokers.
