Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, Malaysia's first Bank, opened its doors for business over 130 years ago. The first Branch began operations in Penang in 1875. The Bank has evolved from a bank supporting the trading community to a one-stop financial centre today, offering a full range of banking products and services in retail and wholesale banking. It has three core businesses namely Consumer Banking, Corporate and Institutional Banking and Treasury.
A Malaysian Bank with an international outlook, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad has 31 branches nationwide: 22 in Peninsula Malaysia and 9 in East Malaysia.
In our continued quest for service excellence, the Bank is a recipient of eleven (11) ISO 9002 certifications since 1995 in Trade, Custodial, Electronic Banking, Cards, Cash Management Operation, Global Technology, Credit Operations, Loan Centre, Training Centre, Priority Banking and Branch Banking. In 1998, Finance Asia magazine named us the Best Foreign Commercial Bank in Malaysia. We also received the Asian Banking Award 1999 for branch innovation, and for an innovative saving product called the Higher Education Fund.
