It all started at age 12 with my dad's Bell & Howell 8mm camera, shooting surfing and motorcycle movies. Who would have thought that ten years later, I would be shooting ski films in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. And who could have Imagined that when I was watching the Beatles performing live in 1965, that just a couple of years later, I would be riding on tour buses with The Who and Paul Revere & the Raiders.
In 1967, I owned the only "surf van" at Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, Texas. (This made me the perfect choice to be a roadie and carry all the equipment to and from "gigs.") Fellow classmate Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), asked me to roadie for him, as well as another high school band, the Surf Knights.
In 1971, I started playing the bass guitar in local bands in La Jolla, California. I recorded an album (yes on vinyl) with Corky Carroll of surfing and Miller Lite commercial's fame. Even made it to a few music festivals featuring Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin, Steppenwolf, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Joe Cocker, to name a few.
