Phillip Stetson Coombs has been shaping unique properties since 1971. During that decade, he earned his California building contractors license, practicing all aspects of residential construction, and his real estate brokers license, thereby becoming the youngest professional to operate a Real Estate Agency in Malibu, California.

Following several trips to Santa Fe to select unique building materials in the 1970's and 1980's, he built an adobe home for himself in Santa Fe's Historic East Side and swapped a California drivers license for New Mexico. In a flower filled courtyard ceremony he married Coleen McElroy and a year later became the very proud father of young Austin.

The Coombs Company work has been awarded numerous times by the American Institute of Architect (AIA), received the prestigious "Grand Award" from Builder magazine for Rancho Cielo and has been featured in books and magazines from Japan, Germany, Italy, France and the United States. The most recent award is the Historic Preservation Award from the City of Santa Fe for the renovation of the Coombs/Stetson corporate offices on the Old Santa Fe Trail.
