- The Farm was built in 1780 and purchased by the Stowe Family in 1840. From the mid 1800's to the early 1900's the farm was used for growing vegetables, primarily blue hubbard squash. The squash was delivered to local market's by horse and wagon, the farm also raised dairy cattle for milk which was sold to larger companies for pasteurizing and resale. Milking 63 cows by hand twice daily made for a long and tiring day.
