Bali Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (known as STP) in Nusa Dua, Bali is a state institute under the Department of Tourism, Post and Telecommunication, which commenced its programme in 1978. At this time this institute was named "Bali Hotel and Tourism Training Centre" (known as P4B) and offered a programme of PreVocational Training. In 1982, this training centre was then renamed as Balai Pendidikan & Latihan Pariwisata (Hotel and Tourism Training Institute) Nusa Dua, Bali.

BPLP Nusa Dua, Bali was then upgraded to an equal status to university, based on the Presidential Decree (Kepres) no. 102, dated 1 November 1993. This institute is now called Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (The Bali Hotel and Tourism Training Institute), abbreviated as STP Nusa Dua Bali. In its development, this institute has been financially supported by the international bodies like UNDP, ILO, JICA and The British Council. STP Nusa Dua, Bali has also obtained support from the German Government and both the Indonesian and International Hotel and Tourism Associations like WTO (World Tourism Organization), IHA (International Hotel Association).

STP Nusa Dua, Bali offers course programmes which are based on the principles of "Link" and "Match", in the sense that the educational programmes are made relevant to the needs of tourism, hotel industries and government institutions. These programmes comprise courses for basic, supervisory and managerial levels of work both for tourism industries and government departments.
