Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway - south west Scotland

The Stranraer, Portpatrick and Cairnryan area was designated a "Small Towns Initiative" following their establishment by the Secretary of State for Scotland and Scottish Enterprise. The Small Towns Initiative (STI) is designed to develop rural towns, the overall aim nationally being:
"To enhance civic pride and confidence in Stranraer, Portpatrick and Cairnryan by capitalising upon the area's and the economy's strengths and opportunities to secure jobs, wealth and the quality of the environment, so contributing to the reputation, status and appeal of the region."
