- It all started back around 1980. Jay Leatherman, an avid fisherman, began taking family, friends and assorted guests fishing. It seemed word of mouth began to spread about the part-time fisherman who could take you fishing, and you would catch a lot of fish. While on one of those trips a friend told Jay, "Every time I go fishing with you I catch mess of fish. I've paid a lot of guides to take me fishing, but none have had the success of catching a lot of large fish like the success you have. You should be a Full-Time Fishing Guide".
