Objectives, Description of the Organisation
STUD was established in 1996 as an independent non-government, and non-profit organisation (civic association), the mission of which is to benefit the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender minority, and to aim for its full legal and factual emancipation with other members of the society.
STUD primarily gathers young people of homosexual and bisexual orientation, but also heterosexual favourers. STUD counted some twenty members at the beginning of 2004 of the average age of 23 years. In addition, STUD awards honorary membership to persons who have taken credit of development of the organization. STUD is managed by the board of administrators composed of seven members; many further volunteers participate in its activities.
STUD Brno is associated within the Czech Council for Children and Youth (CRDM) and The Brno Association of Non-government Non-profit organizations (BANNO). From its formation it was an active member of The Association of Gay and Lesbian Citizens‘ Organizations in the Czech Republic (SOHO) until its transformation in 2000. Currently it participates in the Gay & Lesbian League (GLL).
