Who are we
The Suburban O’Hare Commission is a consortium of local governments from the communities surrounding O’Hare International Airport, including Addison, Bensenville, Elk Grove, Elk Grove Township, Elmhurst, Itasca, Maine Township, Roselle, Schiller Park and Wood Dale.
Our Views on Airport Development
We recognize the economic value of O’Hare and of air transportation generally. Indeed, many of our mayors, trustees and other governmental officials are owners or managers of businesses themselves.
Yet we believe that Chicago and the dominant O’Hare airlines have let O’Hare grow beyond its proper and appropriate size and volume of operations. O’Hare was designed and built in the late 1950s and early 1960s for an anticipated traffic volume far less than the current 900,000 operations.
