For over 90 years, Riviana Foods Inc. has been processing, marketing, and distributing rice in the United States. Today, Riviana sells more branded and private label rice products to the retail grocery trade than any other U.S. company. Riviana also sells to industrial customers as well as to food service operators. Riviana employs over 1,100 employees nationwide and maintains manufacturing facilities in: Abbeville, Louisiana; Brinkley and Carlisle, Arkansas; Memphis, Tennessee; Houston, Texas; Clearbrook, Minnesota; and Mobile, Alabama along with a distribution center in Edison, New Jersey.

Headquartered in Houston, the Company still has ties to its Abbeville facilities where the business first began in 1911, when Frank A. Godchaux bought 25 rice mills in southwest Louisiana to form Louisiana State Rice Milling Company Inc. Riviana Foods is the result of the 1965 merger between Louisiana State Rice and Houston-based River Brand Rice Mills, Inc. In 1976, Riviana was acquired by the Colgate-Palmolive Company. In 1986, the Company was purchased by members of the Godchaux family and management and was privately held until March 1995 when it became a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ under the symbol “RVFD”.

Success® rice, the nation’s leading boil-in-bag instant rice, was launched in 1977 to meet consumer demand for quality and convenience. The consumer acceptance of Success white rice, and the growing demand for variety, prompted Riviana’s development of Success rice mixes in 1987. Today, consumers can choose from eleven flavors including Broccoli & Cheese, Beef, Classic Chicken, Grilled Chicken & Broccoli, Pilaf, Red Beans, Spanish, Brown & Wild, Long Grain & Wild, Saffron Yellow, and Cheesy rice mixes. Each flavor offers the convenience of the boil-in-bag and stir-in seasoning packet.
