Description
Music and the arts are vital to every child's education. Is your child's music program in danger of being cut? This site offers effective tips for taking action and the latest evidence of music's importance.
The League was founded in 1942 and chartered by Congress in 1962. It provides leadership and service to nearly 1,000 American orchestras of all sizes and educates the public about the value and importance of orchestras and the music they perform. The League strongly supports the presence of in-school music specialists in sequential K-12 music education and the need for arts advocacy at the national, state and local levels. Orchestras seek to improve music education opportunities through meaningful partnerships with educators in local communities, and often partner with local school districts to offer innovative residency and after-school programs. The League's music education advocacy efforts include a strong focus on the benefits of arts education, building awareness about public policy, and strengthening school music programs through community coalition building.
